Melvern Lake

Melvern Lake
40 miles South of Topeka on 75 Highway

Impounded in 1975 Melvern Lake is one of the most scenic lakes in Kansas.

Rocky points abound in the lower section, making this one of the top-rated smallmouth and white bass lakes in the state.  Melvern, because of its remote location, receives far less boating and fishing pressure than any of the other major lakes in northeast Kansas.

Walleye are probably the most sought after fish at Melvern because of the extensive stocking program of 7,000 to 10,000 hand-sized fish annually by the K.D.W.P. with the help of local anglers and the Kansas Walleye Association.

Large expansive flats and the rocky main lake points make Melvern a great walleye fishery.
