Coffey County Lake

Coffey County Lake (Wolf Creek)
60 miles S. of Topeka on 75 highway

Built in 1980, and opened to public fishing on September 17, 1996 Coffey County Lake provides cooling water for Wolf Creek nuclear generating station.  The lake's 5000 acres offers some of the most amazing structure fishing opportunities an angler could hope for.

Smallmouth, Walleye, Wipers, Crappie abound; miles and miles of large riprap make this warm water impoundment a multi species haven.

Fishing is primarily catch and release, this keeps the baitfish population in check for the efficiency of the generating stations cooling system.  Whether you like deep-spooning for wipers, drifting or casting the flats for Walleye or my favorite a 1/8 oz. Hair-jig on the rocks for feisty smallies, Coffey County will provide a fun-filled day of fishing and memories
